The MMCAP Infuse Clinical Pharmacy Program includes components such as Drug Information Communication, Drug Shortage Management, Formulary Assistance and Healthcare Industry Updates. Clinical pharmacy services include individual facility reviews of purchasing data for generic and brand substitutions and direct notification of excessive non-contract purchases when a contract item is available. Additionally, facilities that are underutilizing MMCAP Infuse's reduced pricing program opportunities will be targeted for participation. Vendor or MMCAP Infuse-sponsored educational opportunities are offered to members as they are available.
The MMCAP Infuse Clinical Pharmacy staff has established councils to promote idea generation and sharing between members, foster best practices, and champion strategic contracting in the areas of Correctional Healthcare, Mental Health, Public Health, and Student Health.
In addition to a monthly council call for each area of practice, MMCAP Infuse maintains and moderates group email discussions among professionals with interests in these practices. Council actions lead to strategic contracting initiatives, which result in pharmaceutical cost containment and member savings. Benefits from the actions of these councils include enhanced savings in Hepatitis C treatment emerging drugs; opioid reversal therapies; immunization needs; and other areas.
